The vestry

The Vestry is our governing body. Vestry members are elected at the annual meeting. The Vestry is responsible for finances, building, and grounds of the Parish. Members are part of committees and manage the ministries of Christ Church.

Committees report to the vestry following the 10 a.m. Eucharist during the monthly meeting held on the second Sunday of each month.

The Rev. Teresa F. Terry

Rector

Mother Teresa became Christ Church’s full-time rector in June 2017. She earned her Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary and was a seminarian intern at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Silver Spring, Md.

She also served as interim Episcopal Campus Chaplain for the University of Maryland at College Park and as interim Children’s Ministry Coordinator in Alexandria, Va.

In 2008, she retired from the United States Marines as a master sergeant after 24 years of military service.

She is an accomplished glass artist, outdoor and travel enthusiast, avid reader, dog lover and music and arts patron.

Herbert Parkes

Music Director

Herb Parkes has served as organist, choir and handbell director for churches in Delaware, Michigan, North Carolina and Texas. He taught high school vocal music in New Jersey and organ at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. He was keyboardist with El Paso Pro Musica and toured with them to Canada and Australia.

Herb is originally from Sayreville, New Jersey. He has a degree in information systems and worked as a computer programmer-analyst and project leader. Herb and Allison live in Dover.

Lori Stewart

Parish Administrator

Lori has an extensive background of more than 30 years in corporate administrative and paralegal services. She has an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts, and an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies.
Lori and her husband, Mark, recently relocated to Bowers Beach from Montgomery County, Pennsylvania with their two dogs for a lifestyle near the water. Lori is working on fixing up their old house and enjoys exploring Delaware to learn its history, as well as for new places to eat and shop.
